| The soil is then formed into raised beds. This creates good drainage, and also makes it easier for the workers who tend the plants and harvest the berries. Strawberries require extensive hand labor. The work is hard, and pay is low, so many of the farm workers travel here from poorer Central American countries like Mexico and El Salvador. The tractor is installing drip tape which is used to irrigate the strawberry plants. |
