There are many animals native to the Santa Cruz area that I am not able to provide photos of. Some like the grizzly bear were hunted to extinction long ago. People say there are mountain lions living here, but only a privileged few ever get to see them. I've seen glimpses of coyote and lynx, but they never stick around long enough to be photographed. I can only offer a few photos of some of the more commonly seen land animals in this region.
Some animals are easier to find than others. These cows completely ignored me as I bicycled past their field. Of course, cows were brought here by humans. However, many native animals are much harder to see. |
