April 6, 2001 Shimizu-City, Shizuoka Pref. Cherry blossoms at the ruin of the spring "Sakura ido"

photophoto

" A fountain was gashing forth here. Its water is cool in summer, warm in winter, never died up by droughts. Japanese parsleys grow quickly around there and the spring produces eels. It is called sakura-ido that is near the Mizu Shrine. There is an old cherry tree by the spring." This is the record about this site written in an old book " Shungoku zasshi". Its water decreased by the major earthquake in the Edo Era then dried up. The tree whose shape is beautiful must be a descendant of the old one.
