There used be a branch of the district forestry office through the Taisho
Era and Showa Era in Kotani and they cut down Yaku cedars. More than 500
people lived there to cut down the trees. They finished it 30 years ago, in
1970. There is only a vacant lot of a school and residential area. Cherry
blossoms bloom every year on the school ground where no children are playing
any more. Wild cherry blossoms are in full bloom at the shore of the river
near the place. I recalled the entrance ceremonies of the elementary school
sitting in the sunlight of the beautiful spring.
