Kyoto Gyoen. This spot has few tourists. Parties of families arriving on bicycles can be seen. Entering from the Inui-gomon gate or the Imadegawa-gomon gate, there is a park with a pond nearby. Around the park can be seen the beautiful colors of the pale pink and crimson blossoms on the "shidare-zakura", the weeping cherry trees. The petal of the "shidare-zakura" is long and narrow in comparison to the "somei-yoshino" and has a color gradation on each petal. In addition, the end of the petal form a large "V" shaped lobation. It is most likely this variety of cherry blossom that adorns the kimono or tableware designs.
