'Meiji Forest' inside Minoo Park, run by the Osaka Prefecture, a part of the Minoo National Park. Katsuo is a temple of luck for victory and is the 23rd amulet-issuing office of the west country. The temple was constructed by Kaijo, a brother of the Emperor Kobu, and is 1,300 years old. Because of the temple's power of prayer which made the sick Emperor Seiwa to become well, the Emperor himself named the temple 'Katsuoji', meaning the 'temple of victory over the king'. But being modest to use the letter 'king', the priests at the temple eventually replaced it with the letter meaning 'tail' which has the same 'o' sound. Since then, the Katsuo Temple was reconstructed by Minamoto no Yoritomo who was a Seiwagenji descent. The temple comes to this day as a 'victory temple' through its history of receiving many powerful shoguns from the Minamotos and the Ashikagas who prayed there for their success and victory. Even today, the temple receives many people who want to pray for various reasons such as business, exams, sickness, election, sport match, and accomplishments.
