This natural forest, which includes fifty pasanias that are more than 200 years old, Japanese cypresses, camellias and ashibis(andromedas )is a protected forest as "Manganji jurin" means Manganji Temple Forest. You can enjoy visiting Kintoki Sakata's tomb, a nine-storied pagoda that is a national monument, a statue of Kobo-daishi(Buddhist priest) and a miniature pilgrimage course taking a walk with forest bathing. Kintoki Sakata was one of the big four samurais who worked for Minamoto no Yoritomo and was renowned to defeat Shutendoji, a drunk ogre in Mt. Oe.
