January 15, 2000. Usual "Tondo" Kawanishi city, Hyogo prefecture. 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.. Every year, on January 15th, they do "Tondo" in the middle of a paddle in Kimogawa. They burn "Shimenawa" for ward off devil. There was a pile of bamboo that has about 10m high, at 6:00 a.m. when still dark. It was very impressive when it was lighted and the bamboo was making a cracking noise as it was burning well.

	Lighted when still dark. Red flame and sparks of fire lights the dark sky. When the flame gets strong, this year they bring it down to southwest side.		As the sun begins to rise, the flame became weak.
	Snip a rice cake between the edge of a long bamboo and place the around the fire to cook. Rice cake that was hard gets soft as it's cooked. They take it back home and put it in rice gruel and eats. They walk around their own houses 3times, holding the bamboo that was used to cook the rice cake for ward off devil.		An old lady, who is 85 years old, told us many old stories, as we came from far place.
