The 29th Joetsu City Public Performing Art Festival. From Joetsu City,
Niigata Prefecture.
The 29th Joetsu City Public Performing Art Festival took place at the Joetsu
Culture Centre on Sunday the 14th of November. From the town, children join
the festival with their Sekicho Drums. 70 groups participated this year
with their songs, music and dance. The festival is continuing for 30 years,
and this is the 29th. There are some participants from the neighbouring
prefectures, as the festival became to be recognized as an occasion to
perform folk art. It is sponsored by the Joetsu City and is free entry.
The Sekicho Drums were performed at noon, together with the drumming of
higher grades elementary school children and the dance by the children from
the lower grades.
