November 14, 1999. Swans migrate to Tokachigawa. Obihiro City in Hokkaido.

Swans migrate to Tokachigawa hotspring, famous for its molar hotsprings. Each year from autumn to winter, around 1,000 gracious swans fly in to Tokachigawa bank in front of the hotspring to rest their wings. Hearing that they have arrived this year as well, I went for some pictures. Although there are not many of them yet, lots of families were visiting to see the swans and ducks. Pieces of bread are being sold here to feed the birds. Sometimes you can feed them directly by hand when they come up on land. Kids were screaming with joy. I was bitten by a swan, but it didn't hurt much. it is also nice to watch the swans while bathing in the hotspring.
