From August 3 to August 5, 1999. Kurume Water Festival. Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture. From August 3 to August 5, a summer festival in which all the citizens participate, the "Kurume Water Festival" took place. Its finale, the Chikugogawa firework display was postponed due to rain and held on the 9th. These are not very good pictures but perhaps you can get a feeling for the atmosphere.

	August 5. Kurume Suitengu Temple. A picture of the "Funadaiko", drum on a boat, which takes place annually. It is mostly the children from the Kyomachi school district that participate.
	The day of the fireworks display, August 9. The usually quiet neighborhood becomes quite lively on this day with all the street stalls.		The fireworks. It is quite difficult to shoot them with a digital camera.
