The poetic charm of spring drawn upon a giant white canvas. Obihiro City, Hokkaido Prefecture.

Auto shooting from 450 meters high. It is 5¡î. When it begins to warm in M arch, in order to melt the snow faster so that the work in the fields can be gin, chemicals are spread over the continous snow cover which has lain over the country side since November. Patterns are created over the fields when farmers ride their snow vehicles and snow mobiles to spread the chemicals an d a black trail develops from the chemicals and melting snow. Till last yea r the patterns were simple squares and whirl. This year, I spotted many int eresting patterns. I think the farmers must be expressing their joy and hum or at the coming of spring with these huge pictures which cannot be recogniz ed on the ground. This task, a poetic scene of spring, was so interesting w hen viewed from the sky.

It looks like a 'dango' , Japanese treat. Even here, the 'Dango Trio' can't be escaped.
